I’m not pretending I’m a great painter. I don’t think I am. What I think I’ll be remembered for is my imagination, for my sense of drama, and for not being afraid to take a chance.
The farewell masterpiece. Thank you for the inspiration, Master Miyazaki.
I’ll go sob in the corner now.
Q:What program do you use for painting?
Photoshop CS6 and my good ol’ WACOM. :)
'Carmilla' © Xteve Abanto 2013
This is my version of Toyoo Ashida’s Carmilla in the 1985 animated film, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust which I feckin love so much. Go see it if you haven’t. So shmexy, that film.
AND who better to play the Bloody Countess, matriarch of all vampires, than the ethereal Cate Blanchett. So, MAKE THIS HAPPEN HOLLYWOOD! please? :3
Good God, what a night that was,
The bed so soft, and how we clung,
Burning together, lying this way and that,
Our uncontrollable passions
Flowing through our mouths.
If I could only die that way,
I’d say goodbye to the business of living.
good god, indeed.
International Animation Day 2013 and Prism Tower Ideas
Just finished my 6th Studio Ghibli film, The Secret World of Arrietty, for the day. I watched this with Blue last month and decided we’re building a portion of our house to look exactly like Arriety’s room
(and kitchen/dining area if we have enough space) right across my USS-Enterprise-Bridge-inspired office. Yes, even I sprain my head just thinking about Xteve’s Moving Castle. But this wizard likes his prism tower in fandom chaos so bugger off minimalists.
On a Ghibli-related note, I’m still debating whether I should watch Grave of the Fireflies and end up drowning in my own tears again or wrap up my Ghibli marathon and skip right unto the next animation film on my stash…
Hmmm. I’m actually thinking about sketching that head-spraining design of a house right now. Yeah, maybe I should do that.
Happy International Animation Day! :)
PS, Wowowow 400+ notes on my Merthur fan art. You lot are too sweet. THANK YOU!!! :D more art of Mr. Glass-cutting Cheekbones to come, I promise! :3

So have you guys seen the new Hobbit DOS trailer? I swear man, I died and went to Cumberheaven the moment Smaug spoke. Note to self: bring extra pair(s) of pants during the premiere. haha I thought it’d be too much of a spoiler to hear him speak this early before the screening BUT omigod December couldn’t come any faster!
In the meantime, here’s a little painting I did of Annatar (a.k.a. The Dark Lord Sauron) wielding the Ring of Power and
Moriarty The Witch King of Angmar succumbing to its evil. But seriously, with or without the precious, he’d still be kowtowing before his Cumberness. Anyway, we all know Benedict is also playing the Necromancer in the Hobbit films. Idunno how Peter Jackson’s gonna portray him but I’m really excited about it and I hope we’re gonna see the White Council kick ass at Dol Guldur. PLEASE PJ!
To those who don’t know who Annatar is
(C’mon!), wiki attack! http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Annatar
So yeah, hope you guys like this piece as much as I enjoyed painting it. :)
Also, a million thanks to everyone who liked/reblogged the Merthur painting I did 3 days ago. :) And to show my gratitude, I’d be very very happy to do some fic fanart requests. For free. Just lemme know. :)
Alrighty, till next
Sauron (a.k.a. The Necromancer a.k.a Annatar) and Sherlock: What do they have in common besides keeping dead bodies lying around in their homes? :3
Well, I’m almost done! Okay, not exactly. But I’m getting there! :P So stay locked
(ha! ha! ha!) in! :D
Also, I’m up for a fanfic art request if you guys want. :3 I just started reading Loaded March by Footloose and I’m totally in love with it. So I’ll prolly do one for it. But if you guys have recs for me to look at, then lemme know! I will have to choose though. But it’s a free commission! It’s a way to show my gratitude to you guys for keeping the fandom alive and squishy and happy. :3
In the meantime, here’s a Merthur fanart I did a while back in case you haven’t seen it yet. :3
Sooo, after my Merthur crossover fanart (CLICKandSQUEE), it is but natural that I paint the highest cheekbones of them all next - the
DarkCumberlord himself. :3
(ha!) in! :3
PS. Massive THANK YOU’s to everyone who liked 'Two Sides Of The Same Coin'. I wish I could reply to the comments on there. Just can’t figure out how. :/ Oh well, *kisses all over your blogs*

#crossover Merlin and Arthur (Merlin – Official) as Wiccan and Hulkling (Marvel’s Young Avengers) [or vice-versa]
…because this ship doesn’t sail, it f*king FLIES!
and because I’m still reeling from the gut wrenching finale of Merlin. sniff. This was blaring in my ears the whole time I was working on this piece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e15ccQ5x-tM it just makes everything all emotionally epic and soft focus-y. :3 still hurts man. Still f*king hurts.
anyways, hope you guys like it.
Sssooo, who shall I paint next? Suggestions? ^_^
